How to Write an Effective, Short, and Sweet Irish Best Man Speech Speeches

Irish wedding speeches play a special role in weddings in Ireland.  The purpose of the wedding speeches is to congratulate the   newlyweds and wish them the best of luck with their marriage.  Irish wedding speeches almost always include Irish wedding toasts, and as the best man, do not be afraid to include quotes or jokes to make your speech more entertaining.  On the big day be prepared and know when it is your turn to speak.  The speeches generally take place after dinner, but before the cutting of the cake, and typically the best man follows the father of the groom or the groom.

When giving Irish best man speeches, be sure you do it will great pride, joy, and happiness. Remember you are celebrating the marriage of the bride and groom, so be thankful and cheerful!  If the wedding is actually in Ireland, then you may have the privilege of being in Dublin, or some other great Irish treasure, such as the Garden of Ireland.  If you are in a traditional Ireland wedding spot, be sure to point this out to the guests and maybe provide a little more additional information that they may not know about the area, or other traditions being practiced.

When giving Irish best man speeches it is crucial that you do not get carried away. By dragging your speech on, even if it is entertaining, you will only bore the guests and make them impatient.  Irish weddings are fun, and remember, they want to get on with their evening! A great rule of thumb is to only include a combination of three or less Irish wedding jokes or quotes.  If you include anymore, your Irish wedding speech will sound too cliché. Here are some quotes and jokes you may want to include:

"A hard man is good to find." - Mae West

"His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork." - Mae West

"When you see what some girls marry, you realize how they must hate to work for a living." - Helen Rowland

"Marriage halves our grieves, doubles our joys and quadruples our expenses." - G.K. Chesterton

"There are six requisites in every happy marriage. The first is faith and the remaining five are Confidence." - Elbert Hubbard

Overall, Irish best man speeces, like all other best man speeches, should only last, at most, four minutes, but around two minutes is acceptable and expected. If you are too nervous, or you are afraid of being repetitive or cliché, do not be afraid to just stand up and congratulate the two newlyweds, say something sweet, and be over with your speech.

A short and sweet best man speech is better than a mumbled, dragged on wedding speech. If you are clueless of what to include in your Irish best man speech, look up a sweet Irish toast, add a small introduction before it, and a funny ending after it.  You will get a good response from it, and you will have to stress a lot less.
