Random Thoughts for Best Man Checklist
Often the attention of the guests attending a wedding is focused on the bride and groom, but the truth behind having a successful wedding is in who the best man is. He has to take care of a lot of things. If you happen to be a best man for the first time, you need to have a best man checklist so that you remember even the minutest details regarding the duties and responsibilities of the best man.
You might have already read my Best Man Checklist published last week but here are some random thoughts on the topic for you.
Some of the important duties that are on a best man’s checklist include: the best man speech, him serving as the grooms personal aide and advisor, putting together a bachelor party, and standing besides the groom at the altar. Whomever the groom selects to be the best man, must usually attend rehearsals of any kind for the wedding such as a rehearsal dinner. Often at these rehearsals, the best man must keep the other groomsmen in place, making sure they are doing what they are supposed to. Before the wedding date arrives, the best man must buy or rent a tuxedo to wear at the wedding. Once the wedding date arrives, the best man must make sure the groom is in tip top shape for the wedding; both he and the groom must be the first to arrive at the place where the marriage ceremony will be performed. It is also the best man who gives the first toast in honor of the couple who just got married; this is usually before the best man gives his speech. The last and most important duty for the best man is to sign the marriage license as a witness of the wedding happening. Once the wedding is over, the best man then drives or hires a limo to take the newlywed couple to the airport for their honeymoon.

The best man speech checklist is a bit different than the one you have in mind. I am almost sure that you are thinking that it’s the piece of paper where you list one by one the things you need to perform as a best man … the duties and responsibilities of the best man, you know. But that’s the best man checklist and not the best man speech checklist. Best man speech checklist is in fact quite a handy thing to have with you before you actually sit and write the full fledged speech. You can even keep it with you until your speech is over so that you can refer to it whenever you want while you are giving the speech or may be just before it. It’s handy, it’s a real handy tool to have in your pocket during the wedding reception party.
