Now The Father of The Groom Will Deliver His Speech
In some weddings the groom doesn’t have a brother or a friend who he can choose as the best man. In those unusual but not so rare occasions the father of the groom performs the duties and responsibilities of the best man. However, there are instances where the groom willing wants his dad to be the best man and groom’s father is happy to oblige. I have attended not one but two such weddings where the father of the groom happened to be the best man. And in both cases they did a wonderful job and that includes the best man speech they delivered at the wedding reception.
But this post is about the groom’s father who is not the best man and the father of the groom speech which is not the best man speech. Recently I attended a wedding where the father of the groom gave a wonderful wedding speech just after the father of the bride speech and before the groom’s. You don’t get the chance to hear father of the groom speeches at every wedding reception party you attend. I just loved it. So much so that I decided to write an article on it – you can read the article on father of the groom speeches under the section Best Man Speech Articles.
But, in spite of being not from the best man, a father of the groom speech has quite a few things that are typically similar to best man speeches. The introduction, the anecdotes . . . they all remind me of a typical best man speech. But the father of the groom would ideally toast the wedding couple while the best man traditionally toasts the bridesmaids. All in all, if you are the father of the groom, it’s an interesting article to read. Who knows, maybe it inspires you to give a father of the groom speech at your son’s wedding reception.
Before I finally wrap it up here’s a message for those of you who just found this blog – you can find more information on best man speeches at Best Man Speech Insight – A Guide To Best Man Speeches .
And After The Groom Speech It’s Time For The Best Man Speech
Usually the best man stands up to deliver his best man speech after the groom has given his. Often the groom welcomes the best man to give his speech at the end of his groom speech. A groom speech is quite different from the best man speech in spite of the fact that they are both wedding speeches and thus have to have the obvious similarities. In this blog post let me turn the spotlight to the groom and the groom speech. Can best man speeches get inspiration from best man speeches? But before we come to any conclusion let us look in to what can be termed as salient features of groom speeches.
Groom speeches are typically formal in nature. But, as usual, a groom with good sense of humor would always want his speech to be entertaining. He knows nothing can make his speech impressive.
The groom generally is the second speaker after the father of the bride. The father of the bride invariably mentions the grooms name in his wedding speech. So, even the nervous groom could get the cue from where he could begin his speech.
In his speech the groom welcomes and greets the guests present at the wedding. He also shows his gratitude towards the bride’s family.
He has to do a lot of thanking in his speech. A groom speech is all about thanking a lot of people including the bride (for saying “”Yes” and later “I do”), the bride’s family for obvious reason, the groomsmen and the best man especially for helping him all the way, the guests for attending, the lovely bridesmaids for helping his bride . . . . so on and so forth.
Towards the end of the groom speech the groom have praises for his bride and the maid of honors.
He wraps up his groom’s speech by toasting the bride and her family and welcoming the best man to give his speech.
Now, if you are the best man it’s your turn to stand and deliver. If the groom speech was flawless you are under pressure. But if you are well prepared you can easily get over the worries and give an outstanding speech. When you are ready a good entertaining speech from the groom should inspire you to give an even better best man speech.
