While delivering a best man’s speech it’s easy for any best man to commit several mistakes unless he is well aware of the mistakes and is prepared to avoid them as much as he could. I have already talked about those mistakes here in this best man speech blog but if you really want to get rid of that one single mistake that could completely ruin your not so bad best man speech from the word go is the one I am going to discuss with you in this post.
“Well, I am not a regular blogger. And my English sucks when it comes to writing something creative. I hardly have ever written something about anything ever and this is the first post I am trying to write on my own for the first time. So, you see, it’s quite natural that I will end up with some mistakes . . . . hope you will bear with me.”
Wait a minute! Don’t turn your back.
Thanks. But if I were you I have hit the back button by now and left the web site.
Guess what? Several best men make this stupid mistake. They often say something like this -
“Hi, I’m Jeff. Michael’s younger brother and the best man. Well, this is my first best man speech. I haven’t been a best man before and don’t actually now what to say . . . . I mean, in fact, this is the first time I am speaking to so many people. A little nervous . . . .er, so, I welcome you to Mike’s wedding reception . . . .”
Well, it sounds better when you read this but when you actually hear his from a nervous best man with a choked voice . . . . it can’t get worse than that. The audience will immediate know that it’s better not to expect anything interesting fro this best man. The best man speech dies then and there. You may be nervous, but do you really show the audience that you are. Is that going to make your speech any better? Or do you think that would justify your inability of not being able to give even a short best man speech which is decent?
It’s important that all best men get their best man speeches written in advance and rehearse them for a few times at least so that these embarrassing situations could be avoided. Follow this simple rule and you will do a world of good to the guests attending the wedding reception as well as to your best man speech.
