My Take on Joint Best Man Speech

A joint best man speech is not what you could see at a wedding speech. Joint best man speeches would mean that there is more than one best man and that’s not typical at a wedding. The groom generally chooses his best friend or brother to be his best man and support him during the wedding. But sometimes the groom might not be able to make a choice between two of his best friends and requests both to be the best man. I used the word two since I m yet to attend a wedding where there are more than two best men. Wonder how a group of best men would be like. Well, there are groomsmen who sometimes give a speech or toast the newlyweds but here we are talking about two or more men standing side by side and giving a best man speech together. In my honest opinion, when it comes to a joint best man speech, I don’t think having more than two to three guys with the mic is a good idea. If you must give a joint best man speech, ideally it should be no more than just two best men addressing the audience.

A joint best man speech would require a lot more than a normal best man speech – the two best men should prepare for their speech individually and jointly. Once both of them agree on the content of the speech they should rehearse together for several time until they both feel that they are complementing each other perfectly.

Still Not Sure if You Should Use Best Man Speech Props in Your Speech ?

A few couple of years ago I was at my long time buddy Lionel’s wedding reception where, I still can remember, our high school buddy Andrew Best actually delivered an exceptional best man speech.   That was the first time ever when I came across a best man speech where the best man used props in his best man speech. And boy was his speech awesome. That was great speech, most probably the one of the most wonderful best man speech I have ever heard. So, what did he do to make his wedding speech so special? Well, he did have an excellent sense of humor and the anecdotes he shared were really very funny. He was confident and seemed to know what he is doing. But if there is one single thing that was behind the huge applaud that it got was the best man speech props that the speaker used very carefully in his speech.

It is indeed a cool idea to include a few good best man speech props in your best man speech. Once you figure out the outline of the speech, you would get the idea as of where to put those best man speech props precisely. Well, if you are new to this idea but can’t wait to test it, I would suggest that you go through the best man speech props article that was published last week. I am sure not only you are going to like it but also use them successfully in your best man speech.

Do You Have A Best Man Speech Checklist Ready?

The best man speech checklist is a bit different than the one you have in mind. I am almost sure that you are thinking that it’s the piece of paper where you list one by one the things you need to perform as a best man … the duties and responsibilities of the best man, you know. But that’s the best man checklist and not the best man speech checklist. By the way, I just discovered that even though we have elaborative articles on bet man speech duties and responsibilities there’s isn’t a one titled Best Man Checklist and I promise to publish one shortly.

Now, coming back to best man speech checklist it’s nothing but an outline of a best man speech.  In other words, it’s the blue-print or structure of a best man speech that the best man generally uses to jot down his ideas or the main points he want to mention in his best man speech. There are quite a few articles on best man speech outline and best man speech structures for you to read in this site. Read them and you will know what I mean.

Best man speech checklist is in fact quite a handy thing to have with you before you actually sit and write the full fledged speech. You can even keep it with you until your speech is over so that you can refer to it whenever you want while you are giving the speech or may be just before it. It’s handy, it’s a real handy tool to have in your pocket during the wedding reception party.

What Does it Take to Make Great Best Man Speeches

Best Man Speech Insight Blog for Best Man SpeechesHaving to prepare a best man speech can be very nerve wracking. Therefore, planning ahead would be an ideal thing to do. If you’re not used to speaking in front of large groups of people, then that’s alright. No one is going to expect you to deliver it perfectly, as long as you show that you have put a lot of thought and effort into it that will be enough to impress the bride and groom, as well as the rest of the guests.

Rehearse your best man speech several times before the wedding. Practice it in front of mutual friends, that will also be attending the wedding, and get their opinion of it. Best man speeches are always as good as the best man has prepared for it.

It’s a good idea to memorize your speech, that way you won’t be reading the entire best man speech from paper. Reading entire speech from paper, won’t make it personal, and will come across, as you being robotic. You want the guests, and especially the bride and groom, to feel the same emotions you are, and reading the speech, won’t portray that feeling. However, if you are afraid of forgetting what you have rehearsed, the write down some key phrases on note cards, and keep them tucked away in your pocket, for, just in-case.

When you’re thinking back on the things you and the groom have experienced together. Be sure to leave out the partying days, this definitely, wouldn’t be the day for it. Perhaps a personal story that the bride and groom have told you about would be more appropriate. Something humorous maybe, about when they met, or a trip they spent together. Do they have their own little sayings or nicknames for each other? If so, then that would be appropriate as well.

Keep in mind, this is their day, not yours, so keep the subject matter, directed to them. And always remember shorter is better. Keep your speech short and sweet, by making it too long, your guests will lose interest. If you keep it short, and entertaining, then it will in-deed be a success. Ideally best man speeches should not exceed 5 minutes. That is plenty of time to show the bride and groom how much you care, without hogging their spotlight.

Remember, it is important to keep any jokes you add during your best man speech decent. If you wouldn’t tell the same joke to your own child or grandmother, then leave it out. You don’t want to offend or embarrass anyone. Another thing to avoid is the alcohol. Try not to drink until you have delivered your speech. You don’t want to risk stumbling, or delivering your speech with slurred words. That would be the ultimate display of disrespect.

As long as you keep these simple steps in mind, I’m positive your best man speech will be a great one. When it comes time to give your toast, be sure to stand up straight, raise your glass high in the air, and ask everyone to join you. Congratulate the new couple, and give your best wishes for a happy and long future together. The best of the best best man speeches are always concluded by equally good best man toasts.
