In some weddings the groom doesn’t have a brother or a friend who he can choose as the best man. In those unusual but not so rare occasions the father of the groom performs the duties and responsibilities of the best man. However, there are instances where the groom willing wants his dad to be the best man and groom’s father is happy to oblige. I have attended not one but two such weddings where the father of the groom happened to be the best man. And in both cases they did a wonderful job and that includes the best man speech they delivered at the wedding reception.

But this post is about the groom’s father who is not the best man and the father of the groom speech which is not the best man speech. Recently I attended a wedding where the father of the groom gave a wonderful wedding speech just after the father of the bride speech and before the groom’s. You don’t get the chance to hear father of the groom speeches at every wedding reception party you attend. I just loved it. So much so that I decided to write an article on it – you can read the article on father of the groom speeches under the section Best Man Speech Articles.

But, in spite of being not from the best man, a father of the groom speech has quite a few things that are typically similar to best man speeches. The introduction, the anecdotes . . . they all remind me of a typical best man speech. But the father of the groom would ideally toast the wedding couple while the best man traditionally toasts the bridesmaids. All in all, if you are the father of the groom, it’s an interesting article to read. Who knows, maybe it inspires you to give a father of the groom speech at your son’s wedding reception.

Before I finally wrap it up here’s a message for those of you who just found this blog – you can find more information on best man speeches at Best Man Speech Insight – A Guide To Best Man Speeches .

The Best Man TraditionThe Best Man. No, it’s not about The Best Man movie released in 1999 and it’s not about The Best Man movie of 1964 either. But it’s about the best man – the traditions related to best man, the history of best man, the duties and responsibilities of the best man and yes, about best man speeches.

If you are a best man trying to put together a best man speech I suggest that you read about everything about the best man rather than only the best man speech. When I say everything about best man I mean hose points I just mentioned above. It will take half an hour more, but I promise it will make your best man speech much better. If I were the best man I would definitely want to know who the first best man was (Don’t search for it. I did ….. that guy in unidentified, obviously) or at least about the history and traditions attached to the best man.

Best man speeches only get better with time. I mean the more time you speech the better it gets. And when you go through quality information about best man speeches you get familiar with the topic and that’s exactly what you need to boost your confidence. I think a best man needs confidence more than anything else to deliver a good best man speech.

Before asking your dad about the duties and responsibilities of the best man, why not you yourself read about it first. It’s important that you have a crystal clear idea about it so that you know what you do. I have just published a nice article on the best man ( not just best man speech ) and I’d insist you to read it before you do anything else. And to learn about the history of the best man scroll down and find the post related to it.

So, that’s it for now. You can now go and read the article title Best Man .

The Groom and the Best ManUsually the best man stands up to deliver his best man speech after the groom has given his. Often the groom welcomes the best man to give his speech at the end of his groom speech. A groom speech is quite different from the best man speech in spite of the fact that they are both wedding speeches and thus have to have the obvious similarities. In this blog post let me turn the spotlight to the groom and the groom speech. Can best man speeches get inspiration from best man speeches? But before we come to any conclusion let us look in to what can be termed as salient features of groom speeches.

Groom speeches are typically formal in nature. But, as usual, a groom with good sense of humor would always want his speech to be entertaining. He knows nothing can make his speech impressive.

The groom generally is the second speaker after the father of the bride. The father of the bride invariably mentions the grooms name in his wedding speech. So, even the nervous groom could get the cue from where he could begin his speech.

In his speech the groom welcomes and greets the guests present at the wedding. He also shows his gratitude towards the bride’s family.

He has to do a lot of thanking in his speech. A groom speech is all about thanking a lot of people including the bride (for saying “”Yes” and later “I do”), the bride’s family for obvious reason, the groomsmen and the best man especially for helping him all the way, the guests for attending, the lovely bridesmaids for helping his bride . . . . so on and so forth.

Towards the end of the groom speech the groom have praises for his bride and the maid of honors.

He wraps up his groom’s speech by toasting the bride and her family and welcoming the best man to give his speech.

Now, if you are the best man it’s your turn to stand and deliver. If the groom speech was flawless you are under pressure. But if you are well prepared you can easily get over the worries and give an outstanding speech. When you are ready a good entertaining speech from the groom should inspire you to give an even better best man speech.

There are already quite a few articles and blog posts on the same topic – funny best man speeches. But I decided to write yet another blog post on it as this is one of the most popular search terms that best man around the world use to find information on best man speeches. And no wonder since nothing works better than humor. But at the same time as I have always pointed out, humor or comedy is not easy. If you are thinking that you can pick a few quotes from here and there and just plug them in to your best man speech let me tell you that it’s not always a good idea. It’s most likely that the audience know them already (this is not the only wedding reception party they will be attending after all). However, tweaking it or making it to suit your personality and the situation is a better idea.

When it comes to best man speeches it is vital that there is an element of surprise in the humors you intend to include your speech.  See if you can come up with a really good punch line involving you, the groom (and may be the bride). You can seek help from the resources available on best man speeches and toasts but use it to get some ideas only. To make your best man speech funny you have to relate the humor or joke to your speech.

It’s not easy but it’s not hard either. It all depends on whether you are ready to give your speech some time and effort to make your speech funny. Funny best man speeches also require that you present them properly. By the way, you don’t have to behave like a comedian to make people laugh. Be yourself and if your best man speech has the punch the audience is going to enjoy it thoroughly.

My suggestion is give it a try. Think about it, make an outline of the speech, write down the formal part and then try to import some fun in it. Remember to rehearse your best man speech quite a few times before you actually deliver it at the wedding reception. And what if you still aren’t very sure if yours is really a funny best man speech? Simply revert back to a formal best man speech. You will do well.

This best man speech guide could save your research time and help you to get what you want – a funny best man speech.
