A stag party or a bachelor party, as it is sometimes called, is usually arranged by the best man with the help of the groomsmen or the groom's other friends to celebrate bachelorhood (of the groom) for one last time. The stag party is pretty much similar to the Hen Party or Hen Night which is organized for the same cause but involves the bride, the maid of honor and the bridesmaids instead. A stag party is a passport to embarrass one of your best buddies before he embraces his married life. Generally a stag party is organized on a night before the wedding day. Although the best man organizes the stag party, normally everybody attending the party, except the groom, share the cost between themselves.

Since you are the best man, then surely, the groom must be very close to you. Therefore, the stag party is going to be something, you don't want to mess up. Now where should you start? That all depends on what type of person the groom is, his interests, likes, and dislikes. Typically, the stag party includes half naked women and lots of drinks. However, you will want to discuss the details over with the groom himself, and get his opinion on the idea. After all, it is his party, and he is the one that will have the bride to deal with. You don't want to have a mutual friend, talk you into doing something that the groom, or the bride wouldn't approve of. If the groom doesn't want strippers at his party, then don't force them on him, let him decide what type of party, he is interested in. You don't want to be the one responsible for the groom breaking the bride's trust.

Perhaps, going out to a strip club would be a better choice. Since it is a public place, this helps ensure the bride that nothing is going to happen. Also, combining activities is a good idea. For instance, maybe going to dinner, then a few games of poker, followed by a strip club would better ensure the groom's good time. Chances are, some of the men attending the stag party won't be comfortable with going to a strip club as well. This gives everyone an opportunity to get involved in the bachelor party.

Sports are also another solution to the stag party issue. Getting all the guys together for a sporting activity is a great way to do some male bonding, and have a good time without getting into unnecessary trouble. Having t-shirts printed out, would be a great idea. For example, “I survived John Doe's bachelor party.” This would be a fun idea, and a good way to show off your wonderful, memorable evening together with your closest friends.

If you are not the athletic type, then maybe going to see a game would be a better idea. Even plan to have the groom's name displayed on the big screen, congratulating him on his upcoming nuptials.

Outdoor activities are also another good idea. Camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, these are all good ways to bond, and keep the groom out of trouble, but still have a great time. Nothing would be a better experience than you and your friends sitting around the camp fire sharing old embarrassing stories that you can't mention around the groom's future wife. Talk about old times, the partying days, ex-girlfriends, old lovers. This would be a perfect opportunity to experience that special moment you need with the groom before his big day.

No matter which way you decide to go, be sure to get the groom's approval before making any rash decisions. After all the primary intention of a stag party is to present a very special night to the groom, the memories of which he is going to cherish forever.
